Case Management Consultant is a more recent field in this discipline of Consultancy. Within the last decade the Consultants are responsible for delivering a system in which a Case Manager is responsible for a caseload of a client through their hospitalization or health care needs. These managers may be aligned with caseloads in a variety of ways, for instance either specific patients or physicians, with patients within a unit or units.

By diagnosis the case management maintains the philosophy of primary care and requires a bachelors or masters program to implement high-level professional practice.

Establishing and implementing standards of practice are major functions of a professional organization. Most medical practice provide exact criteria against which clients, medical staff and employers can evaluate cadre for effectiveness and excellence.



Case Management consultants work closely with department supervisors in assessing case management performance and outcomes. Consultants evaluate whether caseworkers are providing the assistance to holistic patient care. They investigate if patients are receiving continuity of care or whether they are getting lost in the system. They research things like networking with other agencies, or find better and more methods of referral expeditiously and whether they are appropriate.

The resources they provide are not restricted to the health care and medical community. They also offer a vast repertoire of community resources. Assisting patients with accessing agencies that provide food or transportation are for many patients necessary support services that assist in meeting their medical and health care needs. Many caseworkers have an overwhelming case load and work in antiquated systems. Yet despite many restrictive work situations they find creative ways to resolve sometimes seemingly insurmountable patient issues. They therefore benefit from any improvements that facilitate easy workload while improving patient care.

This system of assignments, which evolved from concepts of scientific management used in the field of business administration, focuses on the job to be completed. In this tasks oriented approach, personnel with less preparation that the professional medical staff fulfills less care requirements. It is based on a production and efficiency model that gives authority and responsibility to the Consultant assigning the work. Clearly defined job descriptions, procedures, policies, and lines of communications are required. The functional approach to Consultancy is economical and efficient and permits centralized direction and control. Its disadvantages are fragmentation of care and the possibility that non-quantifiable aspects of care, such as meeting the clients emotional needs may be overlooked.

The average median income in the United States according to the Department of labor is $59,000 per year. However with an advanced degree and years of experience salaries can range from $53,800 to $64,900. Therefore depending on the criteria and work history of the individual their salaries will fluctuate.
