The industry of human resource consulting is an $18.4 billion one. The emergence of this industry is from management consulting. This is because the clients' requirement have advanced to a very complex and also specialized nature, thereby creating a gap between the needs of HR and the capabilities of the work force. Therefore, human resource consulting has been accentuated to bridge the gap. There is the existence of a complex nature in various business sectors causing an overlapping in the industry of consulting. Human Resource Consulting is based on human capital, health and benefits, mergers and acquisitions, communication, retirement, and outsourcing.

An HR consultant may serve various aspects of consulting, inclusive of investments, legal counseling, and the implementation of technologies for the facilitation of human capital and global initiatives. This industry employs a large number of actuaries to give assistance to the various services. An HR professional must have the knowledge of all the procedures and policies to his or her consulting unit. The interviews for the employment of an HR consultant is a great source of experience because the interviewer asks and puts forward various questions of such intensity that it becomes quite intimidating for the applicants.

An HR consultant must have a great personality with ideas dented in his or her mind. He or she should possess confidence and a great source of motivation. This is because the HR can communicate with the clients, employees, business personnel, and corporate members with positive expression. An HR consultant must be for the masses and acquire a skill of communication. Maintenance of a good relationship and building one is the top skill required by the professionals in this field. This field has great demand and therefore, there is great competition amongst all the applicants. So a person should build a strong portfolio and also competitive attitude to survive with a job in this field.

An HR consultant does have the responsibility and job of evaluation and formulation of various policies related to the personnel of the company. Then he or she also has the role of supervising the minute to minute aspects of relationships of various employees. An HR consultant holds titles like benefits manager, affirmative action specialists, employee welfare manager, compensation manager, job analysts, government specialists, personnel manager, and labor relations manager.

Then a consultant must have the following skills in business, leadership, communication, speech qualification, management skills, and good psychological skills. He or she provides assistance to all the employees, HR personnel, and also the managers relating to various topics like leaves, vacation, sick leaves, appointments, non renewals, etc. The HR consultants help the managers, employees and the HR personnel with issues related to employment. Then their job includes the interpretation and application of policies, contracts, and rules in relation to employment. Providing assistance for the performance on issues connected to management from hiring and rewarding to recognition and also providing discipline and the power of termination.

Apart from these, the other job profile of an HR consultant is to resolve various conflicts and negative aspects in the management and in the workplace, inclusive of the facilitation of grievances presented in the union. Providing with training, especially the customized natured regarding employment and its various subjects is done by an HR consultant. Lastly, they are also acting as a leader of units for the various developments in the organization or the company.

Human resource consultants must have qualifications and certificates that are specialized, for example, accountancy certificates like ACCA, CPA, CA; educational degrees like, MBA, MSc in HR or management, PhDs, JD; Finance degree like CFA; HR degree like certificates of SHRM example SPHR, PHR, GPHR, etc; Health and benefit certificates like, CEBS, CBP, and CCP.

The global job prospect in this field of HR consulting has an average growth expectation but with a fierce competition in this field. There are abundant opportunities, especially in the private sector. Every business and organization requires and has a great team of HR consultants for the betterment of the particular organization and also for all the employees and their future prospects.

The earnings and salary of a good HR consultant varies and are influenced by various factors, inclusive of the titles, field, place, education, level of qualification, and definitely experience. The range of salary is usually between $29,000 and $100,000 per year. There is a great opportunity of development and advancement in this field. So, once you have secured a strong footing, there are great aspects waiting for you.
