Average Management Consulting Salaries are Above Average

Consultant jobs can be very lucrative indeed, depending on the position you have. With most consulting jobs, you start out in entry-level positions and then move on to higher-level management consultant jobs.

Even an entry-level consultant job can be pretty lucrative, with an analyst's position, for example, earning between $40,000 and $80,000 year after bonus, assuming you have a bachelor's degree. If you have an MBA degree, in an associate position, you can make between $90,000 and $180,000 a year; median tops will salaries average on hundred and $45,000 year, which is the highest in any profession. Of course, your actual salary will vary depending on where you live and work.

Even management consultants in entry-level consulting jobs, for example, can make between $40,000 and $80,000 a year. A first-year analyst with a bachelor's degree can make between $55,000 and $80,000 in base salary with a bonus of $5,000-$10,000 a year, again depending on the firm worked at common job performance, and so on.

A second-year analyst with a bachelor's degree can make between $60,000 and $120,000 a year, with an additional bonus of $10,000-$20,000.

A management consultant with an MBA can make between $80,000 and $170,000 a year, while a senior consultant who has an MBA with two to five years of experience can make about $280,000 a year.

A junior partner at a consulting firm, with an MBA or Ph.D. and with five years or more in job experience, can generally make about $450,000 a year. A senior partner with an MBA or Ph.D. and five to 20 years' experience can make up to $600,000 year, with a bonus of up to $3 million or more.

If you get your first consultant job straight out of college as an undergraduate, you may begin, for example, as an associate consultant. At that point, your salary is probably going to be about $60,000 a year, and you'll get a signing bonus of between $5,000 and $10,000. For these types of jobs, you usually also get relocation and moving expense reimbursements of another $5,000-$10,000 besides. In addition, at the end of your first year, you would probably receive about $10,000 in bonus monies, assuming adequate form its capabilities, etc. That means that even in first-year consultant careers, those with bachelors' degrees can expect to make about $75,000 in total compensation. Although this may be a little bit less than investment banking and other finance sectors, it's still competitive in terms of salary and other compensation.

If you go for your MBA, even ''entry-level MBA'' graduates can expect to make a base salary of about $125,000 a year, assuming one to four years of prior work experience and two years of education in business. The signing bonus from this is usually about $20,000. A typical relocation/moving bonus is about $10 000-$15,000 additionally. A year and bonus for an MBA at the end of his or her first year is about $30,000. That means that with an MBA, even someone who completes his or her first year will make about $170,000-$200,000 in total for that year. And of course, further tenure at a particular firm usually brings salary increases and additional bonuses as well.

So as you can see, even a bachelor's degree is going to get you a very good start in consulting careers and an MBA can further your advancement even more. Although these types of consulting jobs may not make as much as some in investment banking, for example, the jobs themselves are less demanding, have better training, and are of a greater variety. Therefore, they may be more desirable, depending on your own personal preferences, than those that are somewhat more lucrative financially.

You Must Have the Home Team Advantage
