The decision to go to College or a University can be difficult for most people. In addition, some people may not be able to enter the University of their choice. In the modern world, many people are faced with various doubts and fears regarding college in their future. Unfortunately, for most the University admission system is a difficult one to break into. It is a task that needs a solid understanding of the groundwork involved. With this knowledge a College Admissions Consultant can inform the teen or an adult about options, disadvantages and advantages. Some teenagers may not have a grasp of what is needed in order to make a decision on a career path. While other teens may not be sure if a college education is for them. Sometimes applicants are adults and are returning to school. Some adults may choose to go back for a second degree or to finish their first one. There are many difficult questions that need to be answered before one can make the right choice for College or Universities.

Assisting teens and adults pass their curriculum requirements is one of the many tasks the Consultant must do. Helping with all transfer requirements required by the University or country of origin while balancing several candidates at once is a skill one must learn with experience. Some students are returning to school after 10 years of working in their fields. Some of their requirements may differ due to there on the job certifications, and experience. The focus and ultimate goal is advancing the student’s academic achievements and goals.

Another responsibility and focus of a College Admissions Consultant is assisting a High School graduate by choosing the right University once offers are sent back from the educational institutions. Ultimately deciding which school would best serve them. Once the College or University has been chosen then the focus would be on whether the teen could perform well including where their strengths lie. Depending on the experience of the College Admission Consultant they will be able to discern how to best use the qualities of the teen and how to match it with what their institutions is offering. A lot of patience and knowledge of Academia is required of the College Admissions Consultants in order to give the best opportunity for the applicant. The responsibility and rewards are ultimately why a person would choose this difficult and arduous career.



The second focus is the preparatory stage for the student. Once the Consultant is at this stage they understand the needs and desires of the students career path. Sometimes lack of high scores or requirements have not been evaluated properly the student will find themselves with less options. Entrance exams have become more difficult at these College and Universities due to more diverse applicants. Of course, exams are necessary however the reference process is as well. The consultant will help advise the student on necessary references and extracurricular activities that need to be added to their application in order to have a better chance of being admitted.

Although, it is a difficult job, the life of a college admissions consultant is a fulfilling one. As a consultant, the satisfaction of knowing you have helped a teenager or an adult make the right decision on what college to attend is well rewarded. A College Admissions Consultants is capable of making anywhere from $1200 to $1500 per student. Some college admission consultants prefer to charge by the hour this can range from $75 to $100 per hour. However, one needs to have experience as a guidance counselor in a High School or Admissions Officer in a University, in order to be a successful College Admissions Consultants.
