There is a fine balance of skill demonstrated in medical and health; from various standards that need to be adhered to knowing what the resources are. However they are diverse and general to be classified in any specific area of management or administration. It is also true that many of these duties may overlap into other areas in a company from personnel, administrative services or the purchasing department.

Generally, in this sector of the medical field Consultants have a medical background whether as an RN’s, Case Manager or working in the Human Resource Department. Therefore one is not required to have all the skills listed, however it would be wise since the business sector has become very competitive. Recruitment and selection standards for all the states will vary. However job requirements will be based on specific knowledge, skills, and abilities of that sector.

As a Senior Management Consultant the requirements and certifications will add to the marketability of the individual. However, it is also important to mention anything less than a 4-year degree with a 2-year work history in a medical setting would not be advised. As the medical field becomes more competitive there are certain factors employers such as hospitals, clinics and private practice look for. Interpersonal skills, along with standards in the industry are a given. Most in this industry are prepared at the doctoral and post doctoral level.



Once a Masters degree and certification has been attained Consultants in the medical and health sector can assure employers they will analyze and reformulate methods and practices where scientific knowledge and scientific methods can be used to find solutions. Enhance the quality of service relevance by providing knowledge about the way these services are delivered. Facilitate investigations of problems in clinical settings through such activities as contributing to a climate of support, collaboration and investigations.

It is also necessary to understand and be well versed in all local, state and federal requirements when getting into this field. Most Consultants in this field have had previous health related jobs. Whether as an RN, public health or rehab specialist these fields will give the individual a basic understanding of what is required.

There are many consultants who have a MBA or even a Ph.D. that allow them to receive more than $100,000 a year. Sometimes Senior Management Consultants work in the public sector since local government may hire the Consultant as a Health Admin Consultant to oversee governmental health facilities and increase the over all productivity. Therefore, ''higher the degree, then the higher the income'' is the general rule in the medical sector.
