Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experience Environmental Consulting and Human Health Risk Assessment Lead position in our Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA office to manage a variety of projects, typically for large industrial clients. The primary emphasis of the group is to support clients with their environmental regulatory compliance and human health risk assessment needs.
This position is well suited for a person with a strong background in environmental consulting. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate familiarity and experience in human health risk evaluations and associated submittal requirements for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, or other relevant experience
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide regulatory interpretation of EHS laws and regulations to our clients.
Develop complex human health risk evaluations.
Managing scope, schedule, and budget for risk assessment and compliance projects
Building strong face to face client relationships.
Client and regulatory correspondence.
Serves as staff team leader and supervisor.
Provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to new or less experienced staff.
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging USEPA, OSHA, and state EHS regulatory requirements.
Execute a wide variety of environmental risk evaluation and compliance projects with minimal supervision while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives.
Regular travel is required to client sites as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
Minimum of 6 years of directly related experience directly
Valid U.S. Driver's license is required for this role.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of environmental consulting experience related to human health risk evaluations and associated submittal requirements and environmental multi-media environmental regulatory compliance (e.g., CWA, RCRA, CAA, etc.) and its application (i.e., developing SPCC/SWPPP plans, preparing NPDES stormwater and wastewater permits, conducting multi-media compliance audits and providing corrective actions, developing environmental compliance SOPs and programs, etc.).
Professional Engineer License (PE)
Ability to travel up to 1 week/month or more.
Professional certification - CPEA, PE, CSP, CIH, or other equivalent certification
Participation in developing effective business proposals for providing competitive, high value EHS services.
Deep fundamental knowledge of human health risk evaluations.
Deep fundamental knowledge of EHS regulations and consensus standards, including:
Clean Air Act (CAA) – emission inventories, permitting requirements, RMP, PSD, MACT, NSPS, ODS, GHG, and compliance assessments;
Clean Water Act (CWA) – NPDES and Indirect Discharge permitting and compliance;
Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) – CWS, NTNCWS permitting and compliance;
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) – waste classification, management, and reporting;
Oil Pollution Act (OPA), - SPCC Plans and FRP;
Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) – inventory evaluation, Tier II and Form R reporting;
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA);
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide & Rodenticide Act (FIFRA);
Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)
OSHA Compliance – 29 CFR 1910.
Ability to act independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental human health risk assessment and regulatory compliance with little to no supervision.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
